Question 1
Narayna Murthy has made Infosys into one of the world’s leading IT firm. In the world of business and management, much has been said of his management philosophy and approaches. Examine these critically with reference to at least THREE (3) theories and concepts you have studied in this module.

Introduction
Infosys Technologies is a leading Information Technology (IT) company which provides end-to-end business solutions that leverage technology. Infosys serves the client globally and as one of the pioneers in strategic offshore outsourcing of software services, it has leveraged the global trend of offshore outsourcing. Infosys helps large global corporations and new generation technology companies in building new products or services and in implementing prudent business and technology strategies in the contemporary dynamic digital environment.

Infosys was founded on July 2, 1981 by N.R. Narayan Murthy and six of his colleagues, namely, Nandan Nilekani, N. S. Raghavan, S. Gopalakrishnan, S. D. Shibulal, K. Dinesh and Ashok Arora. Narayan Murthy borrowed Rs.10,000 from his wife Sudha Murthy as seed capital for the company. One of the most difficult human activities is managing people. People comes from different background, education, values, beliefs, culture and races and these add to the challenges of managing them. As the new era of high technology influence the helm of the business activities, the task of managers has become even more complex and important. As such, managers will need to have knowledge on the various managerial theories in order for them to have better understanding to managing complex organization (Olum, 2004). In other word, Management becomes a serious issue when managers have to get work done through other people. If only one individual is involved, as in the case of tiny enterprises or managing personal finances, the issue becomes one of planning and organizing oneself. When other people need to be managed, several other issues become critical including motivation and organizational behavior.
